Black Forest and German Cuckoo Clocks
Historical and Geographical Background It's mostly because of the Romans there are streets through the Black Forest, as they traveled here as it had been part of their frontier throughout the Roman Empire. This street exists today and is used by tourists in which it's currently called "The Neckar-Alb Roman Road." This area is heavily wooded, which makes it tough to access and reside in. It was the Alemanni who'd come and settle in the area permanently. The region retains a whole lot of the original Alemannic culture now. However, Throughout the Middle Ages, the area would be almost entirely deforested. Luckily, during the 1800s that a reforestation effort happened to restore it to its former glory as the most significant forested area in Germany, which it remains today.
